Stability and biocompatibility of hBD3 with different chiral configurations and their therapeutic efficacy in periodontitis

We synthesized D-type human β-defensin 3 (D-hBD3), L-type human β-defensin 3 (L-hBD3), and natural recombinant human β-defensin 3 (r-hBD3), and applied different hBD3 and antibiotics in an experimental periodontitis mouse model. Changes in oral and intestinal flora were detected.
