The essay, through the analysis of the cases of Martano and Calimera in 1545, investigates the social and migratory dynamics that affected the Hellenophone enclave of Terra d'Otranto in the period of greatest worsening of the conflict between Europe and the Ottoman Empire (15th-16th centuries), highlighting the importance of the Greek clerical component, the spatial and social structuring, Greek and Jewish onomastics; these elements are compared with the characteristics of the nearby village of Borgagne, as a bridge between Grecìa salentina and the Adriatic coast.
