This FAIRsharing record describes: Due to the importance of the research data, the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) launched the “Policy for managing, sharing and opening data for Research: principles and guidelines”, established through Ordinance No. 5,760, of December 7, 2020, approved by the Fiocruz Deliberative Council at a meeting on September 24, 2020. The text of this Policy is the outcome of an institutional collective construction. The text was submitted to internal public consultation, to the Working Group on Open Science Fiocruz. Fiocruz emphasizes that the policy has 2 main objectives: 1 - Define principles and guidelines for the management, sharing, and opening of data for research, within the scope of promoting Open Science at Fiocruz. 2 - Promote the implementation of management, sharing, and opening practices up research data that contribute to reaffirming Fiocruz's strategic role in the country's scientific and technological development. The institution believes that the production and dissemination of data, information, and knowledge aim to strengthen the Unified Health System (SUS) and improve the living and health conditions of the Brazilian population as a whole.
