The mitogenome of N. sinicus was sequenced for the first time, which will promote the understanding of the taxonomy and genetics of the Nigidius genus. We also suggested that mitogenomic data combined with the fossil record could provide a more useful signal for the phylogenetic study to solve a long period of time problems and disputes in the Lucanidae
