Growth studies in hyper saline environments with grass Aeluropus lagopoides has indicated high salinity tolerance. It can also survive in 1000 mM NaCl with 50% mortality making Aeluropus a good candidate to elucidate candidate stress tolerant genes which would be further used for transforming a model plant species.
