<P>Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.</P>The purpose of this study was to collect data about perceptions of the income distribution and rate of occupational mobility; also to ascertain the respondent's satisfaction with his own social position and his attitude to equality of income, influence and esteem between managers and workers.<br><br><B>Main Topics</B>:<BR><br>Attitudinal/Behavioural Questions<br>
Satisfaction with opportunities for occupational mobility, estimated number of manual workers in the workforce. Perceptions of class background of manual/white collar workers. Respondents were asked to agree/disagree with a number of statements about managers (status, political influence and income). Estimated weekly income of average family in UK, estimated weekly income of richest/poorest quarter. Satisfaction with own income and personal influence.<br>
Background Variables<br>
Region, sex, employment status, age, marital status, social grade, size of household, whether respondent is household head, education completion age, accommodation status. Television ownership and viewing pattern.
