THE EFFECT OF LEARNING AGRICULTURAL TERMS IN LANGUAGE LEARNING
收藏资源简介:
The acquisition of specialized vocabulary plays a pivotal role in second language learning, particularly in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) contexts. This study examines the impact of learning agricultural terminology on overall language proficiency, motivation, retention, and practical application among non-native English speakers, with a focus on students in agricultural fields. Drawing from empirical data collected via surveys, pre- and post-tests, and classroom observations, the research demonstrates that targeted exposure to agricultural terms significantly enhances vocabulary retention (up to 35% improvement compared to general vocabulary learning), boosts learner motivation through contextual relevance, and facilitates better comprehension of technical texts and professional communication. These effects are especially pronounced in ESP environments where agriculture students engage with authentic materials. The findings underscore the necessity of integrating domain-specific terminology into language curricula to bridge linguistic gaps in globalized agricultural sectors. Implications for curriculum design and teaching strategies are discussed, highlighting the synergy between specialized vocabulary and broader language acquisition skills.
