In a mouse model, Bifidobacterium pseudocatenulatum strains were paired with 2-Fucosyllactose (2FL) for 3 days. After bacterial gavage had ended, 2-FL supplementation continued for 7 additional days to test persistence of the bacterial strain. B. pseudocatenulatum MP80 was isolated from a breast fed infant and possesses 2-FL catabolism genes and is capable of 2FL in vitro growth. Metabolite profiling was completed on the final day of 2-FL supplementation to evaluate profile differences between treatments.
