Transcriptomic characterization of oral melanoma-affected dogs with different survival times.. Canis lupus familiaris

Melanoma is the most common malignancy in dogs, comprising 4% of all canine tumors. Oral melanoma (OM) in dogs is considered an extremely malignant tumor and is characterized by rapid invasion of surrounding normal tissues, metastasis to the regional lymph nodes, lungs and occasionally to other distant organs. Little information is available on the transcriptome landscape of OM-diagnosed dogs. Thus, the aim of the present study was to characterize the transcriptome of a cohort of OM-diagnosed dogs (prior treatment) and to investigate whether dogs with different survival times would have a distinct transcriptomic fingerprint.
