Functional importance of crosstalk between G protein-coupled receptors and the Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) ion channel in endothelial cells

This thesis explores the biological roles of TRPV4, an important signalling protein in the cardiovascular system. Using pharmacological and imaging-based approaches, the findings of this thesis provided a new appreciation for TRPV4 in vascular leak and histamine-dependent cell signalling in lymphatic vessels. Together, these studies advance our fundamental understanding of how TRPV4 contributes to fluid balance and inflammation.
