Birds seen along transect in woodlot and grassland areas

On Monday September 28th 2015, at York University, our team did 10 transects, each being 50 large paces long, to observe the birds density and variety. Five of the transect walks took place in the Saywell Woodlot and the other five took place in the Stong Pond Grassland. For each 10 paces walked we would stop for one minute to observe in depth if there were any birds in the surrounding area, because often they blended in with their surroundings. Therefore, each transect walk took approximately 5 minute to accomplish. The areas were observed with the naked eye as well as with the help of binoculars to aid with birds at a greater distance that were difficult to identify.
