Supporting data for "Female academics in China: History, experiences of career progression and possibilities for change"

This is the dataset for the thesis "Female academics in China: History, experiences of career progression and possibilities for change". This qualitative research is to understand the experiences of Chinese women academics concerning career progression. The data is collected in a leading research university in China through semi-structured interview. The dataset consists of 40 interview transcripts, interview protocol and consent form. The interviews questions cover three main topics including: experiences of academic promotions, views on the effects of gender on academics’ career progression, attitudes towards policy changes to promote women academics career advancement. All the interviews are transcribed verbatim in Chinese. All the interview transcripts are input to MaxQda ( Version 2020) for analysis.
