As poultry continues to be a significant contributor of salmonellosis in the U.S., especially with the pESI-like mega-plasmid occurring among Salmonella Infantis strains isolated from poultry meat, the poultry industry is tasked with determining effective mitigation strategies. Therefore, the objective was to evaluate the effects of peroxyacetic acid (PAA) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) on the virulence of Salmonella and on the microbiota of chicken skin inoculated with either Salmonella Typhimurium or S. Infantis.
