Dataset for the research paper "Effect of reinforcements on deformation and energy absorption performance of 2D auxetic structure"

The aim of the study is focused on implementation of the reinforcements in the 2D auxetic structure with subsequent explanation of plastic hinge formation and energy dissipation. Auxetic lattice structures represented by reinforced re-entrant honeycomb were manufactured using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) and then tested using experimental and FEM quasi-static compression test. Obtained data resulted in description, how reinforcements influence the locations of plastic hinges, stability of deformation and the deformation pattern of the structure. Finaly, the results led to the design of an auxetic structure that was able to absorb more than 70% of energy per unit mass compared to the reference geometry, while decreasing the eng. stress fluctuations about 36%.
