资源简介:
Traumatic injury can result in deadly non-compressible torso haemorhhage, which can be controlled with pREBOA. Currently, pREBOA is limited by an inability to measure and control blood flow, and patients may bleed out, lose limbs, and suffer organ damage as a result. This thesis focused on the design of a novel device to address this limitation. Through a combination of benchtop work and simulations, a prototype balloon catheter with the ability to estimate and control trans-balloon flow was produced. Translated to use in patients bleeding out , this device can make pREBOA easier to apply, and potentially improve patient outcomes.
