VPRS 2395 Licensing Court Register Of Owners Of Licenced Premises

Under the Licensing Act 1890 (54 Vic.,No.1111) notices were required to be served on owners of licensed premises in cases where they could be deprived of the licence through the process of licence reduction or disqualified as a result of licensee convictions.The Licensing Act 1906 (6 Edw.VII, No.2068) required the owners of premises for which a victuallers licence or Australian wine licence was issued to register their name and address with the clerk of the Licensing Court and also to notify the clerk of any change of address.Rules 17 to 20 of the regulations under the 1906 Act (see Victorian Government Gazette, 22 February 1907, pp 1240 to 1257) required each clerk of a Licensing Court to maintain a register of owners of licensed premises. The information to be recorded in the register included: number of application; date of application or date of notification of change of abode; name and address of owner and change of abode; description of owner; name and description of licensed premises; licensing district; nature of licensee offences; Act and Section under which licensee convicted; date of conviction; date of notice to owner; date when copy of order served on owner; remarks (used to record name of licensee).
