This study used DNA and RNA based 16S and ITS amplicon sequencing to compare the potentially-active (RNA) and total (DNA) microbial communities. The samples were obtained from two long-term biofuel cropping system experiments in two different soil types allowing for the comparison of soil characteristics and crop type on structuring agricultural soil microbiomes.
