Murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) is an important model virus for studying diseases associated with human cytomegalovirus infections. The goals of this study were to characterize both viral gene expression and host cell gene expression. This study provided a global picture of viral gene expression during acute infection and provided new insights into the host cell response to virus infection.
