This thesis explores the use of non-thermal plasmas (NTP) to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) into useful products at low temperature. NTP conversion can be achieved in a Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) reactor, which has a simple design and is therefore attractive for scale-up, but its efficiency has remained below the threshold for industrial utilisation. The research identifies solutions that improve the DBD reactor efficiency through gas temperature control, reactor design refinements and the use of photocatalysts. This work contributes to developments to enable the large-scale utilisation of captured CO2
