BackgroundThe Child Well-Being and Welfare Module of SLAITS is operated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) and is sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services. The Child Well-Being and Welfare module contains information exploring the association between public assistance, program participation, and child well-being. This dataset explores factors including health care coverage, reliable childcare, s afe neighborhoods, and parental employment. Data NotesQuestions were drawn from several national telephone surveys. This module was piloted to low income households in Texas and a special Medicaid sample obtained from administrative data in Texas and Minnesota in 1998 and 1999.
