Comparative metagenomic analysis reveals rhizosphere microbial community composition and functions help protect grapevines against salt stress

Soil salinity is one of the serious abiotic stresses for grape industry. To our knowledge, plant rhizosphere microbes could counter negative effect on plant caused by salt stress. However, the distinction of rhizosphere microbes between salt-tolerant and salt-sensitive varieties is still unclear. In this present study, we determined the variation in rhizosphere microbial composition and function of 101-14 (salt-tolerant) and 5BB (salt-sensitive) grapevine rootstocks under soil with or without salinity by metagenomics sequencing.
