Listeria innocua strain:SA_PSRT1 Genome sequencing

We report the draft genome of Listeria innocua isolate obtained from a Ready-to-eat chicken sample that has been collected from a shop in Dhaka, Bangladesh. There are not many genome sequences of this bacterium available from food products in Bangladesh. Although Listeira innocua is reported as a non-pathogenic bacterium, atypical strains carrying virulence genes have been reported. This draft genome sequence will therefore give us information about the genomic makeup of Listeria innocua circulating in Bangladesh and will provide invaluable insights into their evolution and ecology. Comparison of the genetic features with available databased from all around the world, will allow us to compare the findings for public health and food safety on a worldwide scale. This submission also fills the gap of data from Bangladeshi origin of L. innocua and push forward the discipline of bacterial genomics.
