Metagenomic and Metatranscriptomic Analysis of the Impact of Diet and Antibiotic Treatment on the Murine Cecal Microbiome

In this study, we investigate the impact of diet and antibiotic treatment on the structure and transcriptional activity of the murine cecal microbiome. Mice were fed either a high fat, high sugar "Western" diet or a defined control diet. After acclimating to the diet for one week, mice were then treated with either ciprofloxacin or a vehicle control ad libitum in drinking water for 24 hours.
