Dataset on scientific literacy as a global citizenship competence among preservice teachers in Vietnam

This dataset contains anonymized responses from 807 preservice teachers enrolled in teacher education programmes in Vietnam. The dataset captures scientific literacy as a global citizenship-related competence and includes 42 Likert-scale questionnaire items and six background variables.
Data were collected in May 2025 through an online questionnaire administered to preservice teachers at multiple teacher education institutions in Vietnam. Participation was voluntary, and informed consent was obtained prior to response submission, and all responses were anonymized. The dataset contains complete cases (N = 807) with no missing values.
The measurement items are organised into five dimensions: global scientific literacy competence (GSLC), application of scientific literacy competence (ASLC), perceived importance of scientific literacy competence (PISLC), suggested measures for enhancing scientific awareness (SMESA), and determinants of scientific literacy competence (DSLC), all measured on a five-point Likert scale.
The dataset is intended for descriptive and secondary analysis rather than hypothesis testing. It supports subgroup comparison, reliability assessment, scale refinement, and cross-context adaptation in science education, teacher education, and global citizenship-related research.
