资源简介:
The rising occurrence of multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli (E. coli), especially uropathogenic strains, poses a considerable challenge for the treatment and management of urinary tract infections (UTIs). The mucoid phenotype of E. coli represents a significant adaptive mechanism that arises under stress conditions, complicating treatment with conventional antibiotics. The mucoid phenotype is associated with multiple diseases, including bacteremia, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and various nosocomial infections. Urine samples were cultured to evaluate biofilm formation, assess antimicrobial resistance, and analyse the genetic factors related to the induction of the mucoid phenotype. This study compares mucoid and non-mucoid uropathogenic E. coli strains to identify potential drug targets for virulent mucoid E. coli strains.
