Environmental DNA analysis in multiple taxonomic levels highlights geographical variation in subtropical coastal communities

In this study, environmental DNA sampling was carried out to cover a wide area of southern area of Okinawa Island, which is located in a subtropical zone in Japan, and diversity analysis was conducted for prokaryotes, eukaryotes, and fish. As a result, differences in diversity were detected between the west side, which is susceptible to groundwater that is closely related to terrestrial load, and the east side, where coral reefs, sandy beaches, and seagrass beds coexist.
