Raw Data_Fear of Failure, Resilience, Self-Handicapping, and Athlete Burnout among College Athletes
收藏资源简介:
The dataset, "Raw Data_Fear of Failure, Resilience, Self-Handicapping, and Athlete Burnout among College Athletes," was collected from college athletes across multiple universities in China using a random sampling method. A total of 780 questionnaires were distributed through an online survey platform (Questionnaire Star) between October and November 2025. After removing invalid responses based on pre-established criteria (e.g., excessive missing data, extreme response patterns such as ceiling or floor effects), 747 valid questionnaires were retained, yielding a response rate of 95.77%. The dataset includes comprehensive measures for key psychological constructs, including fear of failure (FoF), resilience, self-handicapping, and athlete burnout, along with demographic data (e.g., gender, age, sport type, and training frequency). This dataset was designed to examine the complex relationship between fear of failure and athlete burnout among college athletes, emphasizing the mediating roles of resilience and self-handicapping, framed within the Cognitive-Affective Stress Model (CASM). The data provides empirical evidence for understanding how psychological resources (e.g., resilience) and coping strategies (e.g., self-handicapping) influence burnout, offering insights for developing targeted psychological interventions. It also explores how emotional regulation and coping behaviors can buffer the adverse effects of failure-related stress, contributing to better management of burnout in high-demand academic and athletic environment
