Development of EST-SSR markers in Asarum sakawanum var. stellatum. Asarum sakawanum var. stellatum

The genus Asarum L. (Aristolochiaceae) comprises approximately 120 species of low-growing, rhizomatous herbs that grow in shaded understories. This genus is an important material for evolution research due to its diversity and polymorphism of floral and leaf morphology. Especially series Sakawanum, which includes 4 taxa, shows clinal variation of calyx lobes length among taxa and is useful object for understanding evolution of floral morphology. However, there have been no available SSR markers for series Sakawanum taxon. Thus we conducted the RNA-seq and constructed EST library to develop EST-SSR markers.
