Use Case 2 End-to-end measurements of network reliability, power consumption, and device performance for remote eHealth and multimedia streaming services under the XGain European project

This dataset contains network performance, power consumption, resource usage, latency metrics collected from deployments of the CAPTAIN Box across remote areas in Central Macedonia, Greece, as part of the XGain European project. The CAPTAIN Box, a lightweight edge device based on Raspberry Pi 4, was installed in older adults’ homes and configured to support eHealth monitoring and multimedia streaming services. Measurements were gathered under real-world conditions using both existing household connectivity (ADSL, VDSL, and fiber) and dedicated 4G routers. Data transmission and system monitoring were enabled using Prometheus Node Exporter and iPerf3 to evaluate reliability, bandwidth, and responsiveness across diverse connectivity setups. The experiments aimed to assess the feasibility of deploying decentralized health and cultural services in connectivity-constrained environments, supporting real-time data flow and ensuring minimal user intervention.
