Continental slope samples offshore Guatemala contain organic matter derived from both terrestrial and marine sources. Upper Pleistocene samples are generally amorphous-rich, with TOCs averaging 2.4%. Pliocene and Miocene sediments contain varying amounts of terrestrial material that increase in proportion down toward the base of the slope. TOCs average 0.93%. The samples are currently immature for the generation of liquid hydrocarbons.危地马拉近海大陆坡（Continental slope）沉积物样品中的有机质兼具陆源与海源双重来源。更新世上段（Upper Pleistocene）样品普遍富含有机无定形组分，总有机碳（Total Organic Carbon, TOC）平均含量为2.4%。上新世（Pliocene）与中新世（Miocene）沉积物中陆源物质含量不一，且该类物质的占比随向坡底方向逐渐升高，其总有机碳平均含量为0.93%。本次涉及的样品目前尚未达到可生成液态烃类的成熟阶段。
