资源简介:
This dataset contains a dialogue elicited using the Conversational Questionnaire method (François 2019, 'A proposal for conversational questionnaires') and elicited morphosyntactic data (including possessive and verbal subject-marking paradigms) from Batta with Ema Sawoy (born 1970), a native speaker of Batta. The dialogue was Dialogue F ('Lifting stones'). Morphosyntactic features elicited include object pronouns, nominal modification by pronouns, checks on animacy, the function of 'to want', and imperative constructions. The possessed nouns in the possessive paradigms are 'plate', 'fish', 'head', and 'eye'. The verbal subject-marking paradigm was elicited for the verbs 'to take' and 'to eat (tr.)'. The session was recorded on 16 December 2019, in Yenenas village (Batanta island, Raja Ampat regency, Southwest Papua province, Indonesia). This dataset relates to the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 'Synchronic and diachronic investigations in Raja Ampat-South Halmahera, a little-known subbranch of Austronesian' (PF19\100004); additional fieldwork funds were provided by a Moray Endowment Grant from the University of Edinburgh. Further deposits are available in the related DataShare sub-community (https://datashare.ed.ac.uk/handle/10283/8573).
