Impact Metrics

Morningstar Sustainalytics’ Impact Metrics is a set of company-level metrics that provide investors with useful measures of companies' environmental and social impact. The metrics are aligned to Sustainalytics' proprietary ESG Impact Framework and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Companies are facing mounting pressure to be aware of the environmental and social impacts of their activities. In turn, investors are now under increased scrutiny to be transparent about the real-world impacts—both positive and negative—of their investments and ESG strategies. Due to global initiatives such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), client demand, and changing regional disclosure requirements, investors need a consistent way to evaluate the broader impact of their investments on the world. Investors are calling for a coherent impact framework and a comprehensive set of metrics to help them analyze, manage and report on the impact of their investments.
