Numerical simulations in half space heterogeneous media

This dataset contains the output from numerical simulations of the wave equation performed in two heterogeneous media. The models considered are uniformly heterogeneous, with heterogeneities correlated with a von Kármán autocorrelation function (ACF) and a correlation length of 320 meters. The dataset includes synthetic from two simulation scenarios that differ in the amplitude of velocity fluctuations: one with 10% fluctuations and the other with 25%. The simulations were performed using the SEM46 spectral-element code (SEM46 documentation), with fourth-order interpolation on cubic elements of 200 m edge length. The source is isotropic, located at the center of the free surface plane and depth of 300m, modeled as a Ricker wavelet centered at 3 Hz. Scenario with 10% fluctuation: files labeled with suffix 10pc_half, scenario with 25% fluctuation: files labeled with suffix 25pc_half In the scenario with 10% fluctuations, we present seismograms for two source mechanisms: an isotropic source, labeled iso, and a vertical dipole with Mzz = 1, labeled mzz. In the scenario with 25% fluctuations, only the seismograms corresponding to the isotropic source are shown.
