Margin Migration Rates and Dynamics: Siple Coast Ice Streams

This product, based on prior data collected under NSF-OPP grant 8716604 (Echelmeyer and Harrison) and NSF-OPP grant 9117911 (Harrison), includes ice velocity data between stations S17 and UpB on the Upper Whillans Ice Stream, Siple Coast, West Antarctica, from January 1994 to January 1995. Velocities were measured using a total station, a surveying instrument that combines a digital theodolite and an Electronic Distance Measuring (EDM) device to measure horizontal and vertical angles, slope, and horizontal and vertical distances. Data are in ASCII and Excel formats, and are available via FTP.本数据集依托两项由美国国家科学基金会极地项目办公室（NSF-OPP）资助的前期采集数据，分别对应项目编号8716604（Echelmeyer与Harrison）及项目编号9117911（Harrison），包含1994年1月至1995年1月期间，南极西部西普尔海岸（Siple Coast）惠兰斯冰流上游段（Upper Whillans Ice Stream）S17站与UpB站之间的冰流速度数据。冰流速度采用全站仪（total station）测定，该测绘仪器集成数字经纬仪与电子测距仪（Electronic Distance Measuring, EDM），可同步测量水平角、垂直角、坡度以及水平与垂直距离。数据集采用ASCII与Excel格式存储，可通过文件传输协议（File Transfer Protocol, FTP）获取。
