Plastic packaging recycled in Spain 2012-2021

Plastic packaging waste recycling in Spain nearly doubled between 2012 and 2019, increasing from approximately 458 thousand metric tons in the former year to some 868 thousand tons in the latter. Nevertheless, Spain's volume of recycled plastic packaging dropped to nearly 705 thousand metric tons in 2020. As of 2021, the Mediterranean country recycled about 808 thousand metric tons of plastic packaging waste. That same year, the recycling rate of plastic packaging in the country &#8211 including household, commercial, and industrial packaging &#8211 stood at 45.7 percent.
