Attitude towards shale gas exploration and production in selected European regions.<br>Topics: awareness of shale gas projects in the own region using hydraulic fracturing or fracking technique; own region benefits from these projects; most important benefits: local jobs, acquisition of skills, better transport infrastructure, domestic source of energy, revenues for local community, source of attraction for other businesses and services; projects raise new challenges for own region and for respondent; kind of challenges: health risks, water and air pollution, earth tremors, drop in property values, negative impact on other sectors, traffic hazards; self-rated knowledge on shale gas projects in own region; confidence in the ability to express own views effectively before decisions are made on these projects; preferred statement: member states themselves should decide on the way how shale gas exploration and production is undertaken, EU should provide recommendations only without adopting new legislation, EU should adopt new legislation to regulate shale gas exploration and production, EU should consider banning the aforementioned techniques.
