Trends of laboratory nonhuman primate licensing in China between 2020 and 2024: a national database analysis

Nonhuman primates serve as indispensable models in biomedical research due to their close genetic, anatomical, and physiological similarities to humans. China, historically a major global supplier of captive-bred laboratory primates, maintains a regulatory licensing system to oversee their production and use. However, publicly accessible data of China on the laboratory primate licensing activities remain limited. Using records from the China Laboratory Animal Licensing Management System database, this study analyzed 430 laboratory primate licenses issued between 2020 and 2024.
