资源简介:
This collection comprises geophysics data from electrical resistance and magnetometer surveys at the site of the former sound mirror, Hartlepool as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund SeaScapes Project 2022, undertaken by Archaeological Services Durham university. Data was collected by local volunteers under supervision. Both survey areas appear to contain significant quantities of ferrous debris, probably associated with construction and possible landscaping works in the late 20th century. One apparent arc of probable ferrous material broadly corresponds to the former earthwork around the sound mirror and could possibly represent wire fragments from a former fence along the earthwork, if there ever was one. Areas of probable rubble were detected in Area 2, east of Clavering Road. Although no remains of probable in situ structures have been identified, such features could survive beneath the rubble and ferrous debris. Some of the rubble could be debris from the demolition of the sound mirror or associated features. Various very subtle resistance anomalies were detected across Area 1. It is possible that some of these could be associated with the former sheds and plot boundaries shown here in 1948, however, the absence of stronger resistance anomalies would be consistent with the ground level being reduced here during landscaping works.
