Paedocypris sp. Pulau Singkep isolate:IMCB_SINFMF_001 Genome sequencing

Minifish (Paedocypris sp. Pulau Singkep), which attains maturity at the size of 8 mm, is one of the smallest vertebrates and has a relatively small genome size (420 Mb). As such, it is a novel model genome for understanding the genetic basis of miniaturization and evolution of chromosomes and genome size. Since minifish inhabits highly acidic (pH 3-4) black-water peat swamps, it is also a good model to uncover molecular mechanisms of adaptation to such a harsh environment. This is the assembly of the female minifish genome.
