Site LA 72048 comprises a U-shaped mound that partially surrounds a depression, stains, a rock alignment, and an extensive midden deposit. It lies on a bench southeast of Tijeras Arroyo in Bernalillo County, New Mexico (Douglas H. M. Boggess, personal communication August 11, 2016). Pollen samples from a stain (Feature 4) in the midden and fill from a bowl sherd collected from the backhoe trench were compared to a modern control sample to interpret economic activity. Two macrofloral samples were examined to recover additional subsistence information and identify charred material for AMS radiocarbon analysis. In addition, a small charcoal sample was submitted for AMS radiocarbon assay.
