资源简介:
Dextran sodium sulphate (DSS)-induced colitis mouse model is widely used in researches of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) because of a lot of advantages, however, many controversial results appeared when this model is employed. Our study found that significant variations existed in initial gut microbiota of different batches mice even with same operation, and the differences and similarities in initial gut microbiota were consistent with that in physiology and mortalities of mice after DSS-treatment. Sixty-four OTUs which contributed to the separation of initial gut microbiota were found out, and their trajectories responding to DSS-inducement were different among three batches of mice. Noticeably, one batch of mice with enriched bacteria from Akkermansia and Oscillibacter developed more serious DSS-induced colitis comparing to other two batches with higher abundance of OTUs from Barnesiella. The impacts exerted by initial intestinal microbiota on the DSS-induced colitis warn us that gut microbiota must be considered when animal models were applied to unveil gastrointestinal diseases, especially which are closely related with gut microbiota.
