Lactobacillus parcasei DUP 13076 species are Gram-positive lactic acid bacteria which are part of normal gastrointestinal flora. We tested the efficacy of this strain to reduce Salmonella colonization and survival in vitro (Muyyarikkandy and Amalaradjou 2017). We observed that Lactobacillus parcasei DUP 13076 significantly inhibited the growth of S. Enteritidis, S. Heidelberg, and S. Typhimurium, and the virulence factors of these pathogens were significantly downregulated in the presence of Lactobacillus parcasei DUP 13076 or its cell free supernatant.
