Identification of Potential Gene targets and Pathways Shared by Diabetes and Atherosclerosis

We analyzed the microarray gene expression datasets of DM and AS in Ba-Ma mini pigs models using different combinations of high cholesterol (HC) diet, high lipo (HL)-diet, and streptozotocin (STZ) injection. Common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified between DM and AS comparing with the control group, which further underwent Gene Ontology (GO), KEGG pathway, and protein–protein interactions (PPI) analyses to screen the significant molecular pathways and hub proteins common to DM and AS. Overall design: Peripheral blood serum mRNA profiles of pigs models, including Control (n=4), HC+STZ (n=4), STZ+HC (n=3), HL+STZ (n=4), and STZ+HL (n=5) were generated ,in duplicate, using Illumina.
