Data and code for: Arsenic-handling genes do not explain inorganic arsenic in three high-arsenic Sargassum species: a cross-species catalogue of seaweed proteomes
收藏资源简介:
Hijiki (Sargassum fusiforme) and some other Sargassum species accumulate tens of mg kg-1 of inorganic arsenic, while most edible seaweeds convert arsenic to arsenosugars. This dataset holds the gene calls, gene catalogue, threshold sensitivity tables, AS3MT and ArsC alignments, trees, catalytic residue maps, Laminaria digitata contamination evidence and analysis scripts from a search of 16 public seaweed proteomes and 1 genome for 12 classes of arsenic-related genes, set against published arsenic speciation for 14 species. The 3 high-arsenic species carry 1 complete AS3MT, 1 LMW-PTP-type ArsC and 1 ArsS, like low-arsenic Ascophyllum nodosum, and no presence or absence pattern separated the high-arsenic species from the low-arsenic group in any of 318 combinations of 6 gene classes and search thresholds. The ACR3, ArsH and ArsC calls in the public L. digitata assembly lie on contigs with the features of bacterial contamination.
