We find that PDK4 knockdown mimics the effect of TGFb in HASMCs, inducing SMC glycolysis and contractile gene expressions. Wherase, ACSS2 knockdown decreases glycolysis and contractile gene expressions. Overall design: Human aortic primary smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) were treated with 20 nM PDK4 or ACSS2 siRNAs every on day 0 and day 4, with medium changed every other day.. RNA were collected at day 7.
