Emergence XII: Order as Primitive In the Emergence Model

This paper introduces the most minimal structure in the Emergence model: Order. Order is the bare before/after sequence provided by the canvas coordinate v. No metric, no duration, no arrow — just sequence. It is the primitive that makes change possible. Without order, there is no causation, no dynamics, no physics. A law relates earlier states to later states; without order, that relationship cannot be stated. Order is often confused with time. Time requires metric (duration) and arrow (past/future asymmetry). Order has neither. It is a thinner, more fundamental background. This paper clarifies the distinction between order and time, addresses objections, and positions order as the minimal necessary structure for any physical theory. It is a conceptual and foundational analysis, intended for readers interested in the philosophical and structural assumptions of the Emergence model.
