We propose to observe the magnetars 1E 1547.0-5408 and PSR J1622-4950\r\napproximately weekly, to track their rotation, flux density, and\r\npolarisation, as we have been doing through this project. Also, as\r\nof late 2018, XTE J1810-197 is again a radio magnetar after 10 years\r\ndormant! Its chaotic rotation is better tracked in detail elsewhere,\r\nbut weekly observations with the UWL receiver are already providing\r\nunique measurements of its radio spectrum and broad-band behaviour.\r\nOur observations provide an important window into remarkably dynamic\r\nmagnetar magnetospheres, and characterise the conditions under which\r\nradio emission takes place therein, placing constraints on the\r\nemission mechanisms, which in at least some significant respects\r\ndiffer from those of ordinary pulsars.
我们计划对磁星(magnetar)1E 1547.0-5408与脉冲星PSR J1622-4950开展约每周一次的观测,以追踪其自转特性、射电流量密度与偏振特征,正如我们在本项目中一贯开展的观测工作。
此外,自2018年末起,沉寂十年的XTE J1810-197再度成为射电磁星!其混沌的自转细节可在其他研究中得到更细致的追踪,但借助UWL接收机开展的每周观测,已为其射电频谱与宽频行为提供了独特的实测数据。
本项目的观测为研究极具动态性的磁星磁层提供了重要窗口,同时刻画了其内射电辐射发生的环境条件,进而对辐射机制施加约束——这类机制在若干关键方面均与普通脉冲星的辐射机制存在显著差异。
