This is version 1.0 of an ontoterminology about events taking place in the Hellenistic world. Hellenistic times extend from the death of Alexander the Great (323 BC) until the Naval Battle of Actium (31 BC). It is a period that concludes the Wars of the Successors of Alexander to the creation of the Hellenistic Kingdoms and Dynasties and the extension of power of the Romans in the Mediterranean. The ontology aims to include the most important agents-persons of the period in relation with the events that formed it. Another significant purpose of the data set is to connect the people and the events with their primary sources and the writers that have chronicled them.
The ontoterminology was created by Tonia Lourentzaki (Department of History and Archaeology, University of Crete) under the supervision of Dr. Maria Papadopoulou (Department of Philology, University of Crete) and Professor Christophe Roche (TALOS ERA Professor, University of Crete).
