VPRS 6010 Attachment Books (Microform Copy of VPRS 6012)

Microform RecordsThis series comprises microform copies of VPRS 6012 Attachment Books. The microfilming of some records began in the 1940s, the microfiche copies appear to have been made by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission at around the time of the original records transfer to the Public Record Office in 1985.The P1 consignment is missing entries for correspondence 54/12161 to 54/12480 and 54/17921 to 54/18240. They are in the P0 consignment, however. The P0 consignment is available to the public in the Reading Room.The P 2 consignment is the Master Microfiche copy; the P3 consignment is the Microfilm copy from which the microfiche copies were made. The only available copy of the microfilm is incomplete - entries for correspondence received between 1922 and 1936 are missing. Volume 5 was microfilmed out of sequence and is located in unit 3. There is also duplication of some information - volume 11 was copied twice and can be found in unit 2 and 4. As the whereabouts of the Master Microfilm copy are unknown, the only extant reference copy of the microfilm is treated as master and witheld from the public for preservation reasons.Original RecordsThe original Attachment Books (VPRS 6012) recorded the top-numbering of inward correspondence which had been registered by the Records Branch of the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission. Since correspondence was controlled and filed by the number of the latest piece of correspondence to which an existing file had been attached, the series enabled the location and retrieval of correspondence. Most correspondence received before 1928 is now filed in VPRS 3844 General Correspondence Files (Alphabetically Re-arranged Inactive Portion of VPRS 6008 - pre 1928 Files), Single Number System. Correspondence received or top-numbered from 1928 was filed in VPRS 6008 General Correspondence Files, Annual Single Number Systems.In later years the Attachment Books also recorded the destruction of files in VPRS 6008.

P2批次为主缩微平片副本；P3批次为制作该缩微平片副本所依据的缩微胶卷母本（Master Microfilm copy）。目前仅存的该缩微胶卷副本并不完整——1922年至1936年间收到的往来函件条目均已缺失。第5卷的缩微拍摄顺序错乱，存放于单元3。部分信息存在重复：第11卷被复制两次，分别存放于单元2与单元4。由于缩微胶卷母本的下落不明，目前仅存的该缩微胶卷参考副本被视同母本，为保护馆藏起见不向公众开放。

### 原始记录
原始VPRS 6012附件簿由州河流与供水委员会档案科登记，用于记录已注册收函的顶编号。由于当时函件的管理与归档均依据现有文件所附加的最新函件编号，因此该系列档案可实现函件的定位与检索。

1928年之前收到的大部分函件现归档于VPRS 3844通用函件档案（VPRS 6008的非活跃部分按字母重排——1928年前档案），采用单一编号体系。1928年及之后收到或编制顶编号的函件则归档于VPRS 6008通用函件档案，采用年度单一编号体系。

后期，该附件簿还记录了VPRS 6008中档案的销毁情况。
