Diarrheagenic Escherichia coli is typically classified into five major pathotypes, including Shiga toxin-producing E. coli and enterotoxigenic E. coli. However, E. coli O166:H15 strains have been repeatedly isolated from foodborne outbreaks, despite lacking the major known virulence factors associated with these pathotypes. We determined the complete genome sequences of three E. coli O166:H15 strains in order to elucidate their genomic characteristics.
